Habitat 07

The town of Baie-Saint-Paul has made a formal commitment to sustainable development. It was the first Québec municipality to build a model eco home and sign up for the Net metering option. Built according to innovative, ecological principles and using natural materials, Habitat 07 is connected to Hydro-Québec's power grid. Among its distinctive features, the house is equipped with solar panels. Electricity supplied by Hydro-Québec and surplus power fed into the utility's grid are measured directly under the recently introduced net metering option. A Télé-Québec film series, Les Compagnons du rebut global, featured this outstanding example of self-generation technology.

Boies 2000

Thanks to the financial support it obtained from the federal government, Groupe Boies 2000 designed a model energy-efficient home, including a hip roof with sloping sides that allow a maximum amount of sunlighting. Solar energy can provide between 25 and 75% of its energy requirements. The installed capacity is 2.7 kW. By participating in this pilot project sponsored by Hydro-Québec, Martin Boies, the company's owner, has set the stage for innovation in self-generation and renewable energy. A solution that could be of great interest to future buyers who want to demonstrate their commitment to sustainable development.
