Request a Connection

Making a connection involves hooking up the customer's electrical system to the power grid. The service entry point marks the dividing line between Hydro-Québec's responsibilities and those of the customer. Connections are always carried out by Hydro-Québec.

To prepare for connection to the power grid, ask a master electrician or a consulting engineer to:

• compile a list of your electrical devices (lighting, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, motors, etc.) and estimate the maximum power demand by adding up the power requirements of every device used simultaneously;
• ensure your electrical system meets the standards of the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), manufacturers' recommendations and Hydro-Québec's standards and regulations.

The master electrician or consulting engineer will then submit the application for connection to Hydro-Québec.

• Financial contribution in the case of an extension or modification to the distribution system (partly or totally refundable on certain conditions).
