Project status: Over 97% of the work on the jobsite has been completed. Generating unit LE-3 was commissioned for commercial operation on August 27, 2006. Testing of the other two generating units is expected to begin in September, for LE-2, and in October, for LE-1.

Impoundment of the reservoir: Impoundment of the reservoir is being monitored. In August, the logs near the spillway and the dam will be cleaned up.
Project status: Over 96% of the work on the jobsite has been completed. Testing is under way on the first of the three generating units. Commissioning of unit LE-3 is scheduled for September. Works in progress: Several environmental projects are currently under way including construction of project observation areas, control of biting insects, remedial measures for land animals and the lake sturgeon study in the Eastmain River.

Impoundment of the reservoir: Since the beginning of May, the water level in Eastmain 1 reservoir has been at its maximum. To facilitate spawning, water is being allowed to flow through the spillway gates. >>>

Works in progress: Over 97% of the construction work on a weir and a fish pass in the Eastmain River has been completed. Inside the powerhouse, the second of the three water wheels has been lowered. Concrete work on the plug for the temporary diversion tunnel is at 88%.
Jobsite population: More than 1,000 workers will be on the job this month. Because the project is coming to an end in late 2006, the jobsite population is constantly dropping.

Forest fire impacts at the job site: Thursday, July 21th 2005 Starting on Thursday, July 21th, all workers who had been demobilized from the Eastmain-1 jobsite due to forest fires will be recalled by their employers. Workers will be flying to Nemiscau airport from Montréal, Québec, Bagotville, Val-d'Or and Chibougamau.
As for the forest fires, crews of specialists will be on site to contain the fires, thereby ensuring the safety of Eastmain-1 workers and making their return to the jobsite possible.
