Roads
The Eastmain-1 hydroelectric development is located upstream of Opinaca reservoir. It is connected to
Nemiscau substation by a 69-km road. Nemiscau substation can be reached from Chibougamau, by the Route du Nord (290
km), or from Matagami, by the James Bay highway.
Workcamp
The Eastmain workcamp houses the construction site workers. During the peak period, expected in June 2004,
it will accommodate nearly 2,400 people. Once the work is completed, the workcamp will be dismantled and transported to another
jobsite, and the site will be reforested.
