Title: Stage 4: Dikes

The dikes close off secondary valleys and keep the water in the future reservoir. They are similar in design to the dam. A total of 33 dikes will be built to close off the 603-km2 reservoir at a maximum water level of 283.11 m. The reservoir's surroundings are relatively low-lying, which explains why such a large number of dikes are needed for closure. In fact, that is one of the project’s particular features. Placed end to end, the dikes and dam would stretch more than 14 km.
