Through IDEAS, Hydro-Québec wishes to contribute to energy efficiency technology at a critical point in the development cycle, namely the stage in between R&D and commercialization. We hope that by providing support at this crucial point, when the cost-effectiveness or viability of emerging technologies has not yet been proven, we can stimulate the market and encourage customers to initiate demonstration and experimentation projects.
Confirming a choice of technology
Technology demonstration or showcase projects are field deployments that serve to test the benefits, cost-effectiveness and relevance of new technologies or new applications of existing technologies.
Experimentation projects are laboratory tests to determine the technical performance and energy efficiency of new technologies.
Hydro-Québec’s aim in supporting such initiatives is to increase electricity savings through the use of highly efficient technologies.
Projects that demonstrate electricity-saving potential may subsequently be eligible for other programs in the Energy Efficiency Plan.
