An electric current can be compared to a pipe or hose ...

 
   

The pressure inside the hose is like voltage (V). The rate of discharge, or flow, is like current or amperage (A). The friction along the inside of the hose is similar to resistance (Ω). Power (W) is what’s produced by multiplying pressure by flow. And the amount of water used over a given period of time is like energy (Wh or watthour).
