A number of the 69-kV substations and distribution lines in the RCMs of La Haute-Gaspésie and La Côte-de-Gaspé have reached the end of their service life. To maintain the quality and reliability of service to customers, not only must outdated equipment be replaced, but also the overall design of the grid must be reviewed as part of a long-term distribution system development plan.
Thus, Hydro-Québec plans to build the new 230/25-kV L’Anse-Pleureuse substation in the municipality of Saint-Maxime-du-Mont-Louis. It will replace the existing and obsolete 69/12-kV L’Anse-Pleureuse substation, which will be dismantled. The new substation will also provide backup power to customers supplied by Grande-Vallée substation, and vice versa.
