Micoua Substation

Micoua substation

This project involves the construction of a 735-kV switching substation in the Côte-Nord region, in the Manicouagan RCM, to improve the transmission system. It will also be necessary to build a 735-kV tie line and to relocate an existing 735-kV line.

The switching substation will help to improve the existing system and transmit quantities of electrical power, in keeping with the development objectives of Québec's 2006-2015 energy strategy.

In fall 2010, after conducting technical, economic, environmental and social studies, Hydro-Québec will request the necessary government authorizations in accordance with the environmental impact assessment and review process defined in sections 31.1 and following of the Québec Environment Quality Act. Construction could begin in the summer of 2012, with a view to commissioning in fall 2014.
