Major work is needed on the 120-kV lines between Cadillac and Rouyn substations. Hydro-Québec is planning to rebuild the single-circuit line (circuit 1306), about 54 km long. On the double-circuit line (circuits 1313 and 1322), the ground wire will be replaced and thermal enhancement will be done. Lastly, a 4-km segment of both lines will be relocated to accommodate a new bypass being built at Rouyn-Noranda. For this part of the line, reduced-footprint towers will mainly be used.

Hydro-Québec is taking advantage of the bypass project to improve the reliability of its power transmission system in the Rouyn-Noranda area.

Construction should begin in fall 2010. The line relocation for the bypass should be completed by spring 2011, and final commissioning of both lines is scheduled for fall of the same year.
