For its Canadian Malartic mining project, Osisko Mining Corporation is currently exploring and conducting feasibility studies immediately south of the town of Malartic.

Hydro-Québec will be connecting the future mine to the power transmission system. For this purpose, a 120-kV line some 20 km long will be built between Cadillac substation and Osisko's future substation at Malartic. The load to be supplied will be approximately 95 MW, as soon as the site begins operating in fall 2010.

After conducting environmental, technical and economic assessments of the project, Hydro-Québec will seek the necessary government approvals. Throughout the process, the company will inform and consult stakeholders.

Clearing and the construction phase are expected to take place from fall 2009 until summer 2010, with a view to commissioning the line in fall 2010.
