The 156-MW Des Moulins wind farm is one of fifteen projects selected in Hydro-Québec's second call for tenders for the purchase of wind power.
To bring the output of the planned wind farm, located in the city of Thetford Mines and the municipalities of Saint-Jean-de-Brébeuf and Kinnear’s Mills, onto its transmission grid, Hydro-Québec plans to build a 230-kV line segment about 3 km long.
The new segment will connect the substation operated by the wind farm developer, 3Ci wind energy, to the Antoine-Lemieux–Thetford transmission line. Construction is scheduled for the first quarter of 2011, with commissioning in early June 2011.
