City of Sainte-Catherine-de-la-Jacques-Cartier

The capacity of Val-Rose substation, located in Shannon near Valcartier military base, no longer meets the area's rapid growth in demand. Hydro-Québec cannot ease the load on the substation any further. By fall 2015, the company will build a new 315-25 kV substation, the Duchesnay substation, in Sainte-Catherine-de-la-Jacques-Cartier. It will be connected to the grid by a new 315-kV double-circuit line, tapped off circuits 3104 and 3105. Then, in 2016, it will be possible to dismantle Val-Rose substation, 26 kilometres of its 69-kV supply line and the 230-69 kV section of Québec substation.
