To meet the growing demand and ensure the long-term operability of facilities in the northeastern part of the Montréal metropolitan region and to refurbish certain equipment, Hydro-Québec must increase transformer capacity at the source and satellite substations in the area.
Several substations and transmission lines are already overloaded and the capacity of others will be exceeded in the near future.
To best meet electricity needs in the area, Hydro-Québec's plan groups together several projects: Bélanger and Bout-de-l’île substations in Montréal, Lachenaie and Pierre-Le Gardeur substations in Terrebonne and the Mauricie-Lanaudière line.
