Beaurivage substation and Scott substation will be replaced by Neubois substation.

Beaurivage substation (above) and Scott substation will be replaced by Neubois substation.

In the Chaudière-Appalaches region, some 69-kV substations and lines have reached the end of their service life or will do so in the next 15 years. To maintain the quality and reliability of electricity service to customers, changes must be made to the transmission system and outdated equipment must be replaced.

Hydro-Québec plans to build the new 120/25-kV Neubois substation, which will replace the 69/25-kV Scott and Beaurivage substations. It will be built near Beaurivage substation and be connected to the grid by a 120-kV line about 20 km long.

After the new equipment is commissioned in 2012, Scott and Beaurivage substations will be dismantled, along with some 69-kV line segments.

Work is expected to start in spring 2012, with commissioning scheduled for the fall of that year.
