Waswanipi

Village of Waswanipi

Located along Route 113 in the Nord-du-Québec region, Waswanipi substation supplies power to the Cree First Nation of Waswanipi. The existing substation is connected to the 44-kV transmission system. In the near future, it will reach its transforming capacity and will be unable to adequately meet the increase in demand from the village of Waswanipi.

Hydro-Québec plans to build a new substation near Waswanipi and to connect it to the 315-kV grid, which has sufficient capacity to supply a new 315/25-kV substation without major modifications to the existing transmission system.

Hydro-Québec is conducting the draft-design studies for the construction of the substation and supply line.
