Document Classification Plan
The Plan de classification des documents d’Hydro-Québec [Hydro-Québec document classification plan] meets the government's new requirements regarding access to information. The Regulation respecting the distribution of information and the protection of personal information, adopted in 2008, stipulates that public bodies governed by its provisions must distribute a classification plan for their documents through their Web site. Furthermore, Hydro-Québec's document classification plan plays an important role in ensuring sound document management, in keeping with the Politique sur la gestion des documents actifs [Policy on management of active records] arising under the Québec Archives Act.
The categories of the document classification plan reflect the company's processes and activities–i.e., the context in which documents evolve. These categories help to define a classification framework whose goal is to properly organize the company's documents for filing and retrieval.
