Net income for the first half of the year was $2,571 million, or $1,115 million more than for the same period of 2005. Net income for the second quarter was $1,442 million, compared to $402 million for the second quarter of 2005. This $1,040-million growth was generated mainly by the unusual gain on the sale of Transelec.
