Lighting

ENERGY STAR qualified fixtures are made to use only pin-based bulbs (generally provided with the fixture). Therefore, screw-in incandescents and compact fluorescents and halogen bulbs cannot be used in this type of fixture (except for some outdoor lighting fixtures).
They come with a two-year warranty, double the industry standard.
Compact fluorescent lightbulbs (CFLs) last 10,000 hours on average (three hours a day for nine years).
Qualified light fixtures provide more even and efficient light distribution.
They use up to 75% less power than conventional fixtures. Torchieres are the most power-hungry lighting products. That's why it's a good idea to replace them first.
Fixtures usually come with bulbs included.
Outdoor fixtures with photosensitive motion detector light switches are very practical.
Examples of some pin-based bulbs suitable for ENERGY STAR qualified lighting fixtures.
Some outdoor lighting fixtures may use halogen or incandescent bulbs and still qualify for the ENERGY STAR label because they include an energy-saving on/off switch.
Fixtures with motion detector

Fixtures with photosensitive switches
The light goes on when it gets dark and off when the sun comes up.
