Grant for Existing Houses
Process

Image: Step 1 Have an energy evaluation of your house done
  • Request your evaluation by contacting Québec's Rénoclimat call centre at 1 866 266-0008.

  • For a suggested fee of $149.95* (plus taxes) for an average-size, single-family dwelling, an technical advisor will make an initial evaluation of your home and assign an energy efficiency rating.

  • The advisor will also determine what needs to be done to make your home more energy efficient and issue a recommendations report.

For more information on the Rénoclimat program, visit the Agence de l'efficacité énergétique Web site.

Image: Step 2 Obtain a grant from Hydro-Québec
  • You have 18 months from the date of the evaluation to do the work yourself or have it done by a qualified contractor.

  • Upon completion of the work, a technical advisor will do a second evaluation free of charge and assign a post-retrofit rating to determine whether the energy efficiency has improved.

  • The difference between the two ratings determines the amount of the grant.
