Geothermal Systems
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE
Hydro-Québec supports the installation of geothermal systems certified by the Canadian GeoExchange Coalition by providing grants subject to certain conditions. For instance, in the case of an existing house, you have to sign up for the Bureau de l’efficacité et de l’innovation énergétiques du ministère des Ressources naturelles et de la Faune's Rénoclimat® program.

1For single-family homes in Québec. The geothermal system must be installed on or after May 1, 2007, and must be certified by the Canadian GeoExchange Coalition.
2You must sign up for the Rénoclimat® program run by Québec's Bureau de l’efficacité et de l’innovation énergétiques du ministère des Ressources naturelles et de la Faune. The entire home has to have been heated electrically or with a dual-energy system (Rate DT) for at least one year prior to the evaluation of work by the Bureau de l’efficacité et de l’innovation énergétiques du ministère des Ressources naturelles et de la Faune. For Rate DT customers, the geothermal system must have been installed on or after November 3, 2009.
3Some conditions apply. Rénoclimat® is a program offered by Québec's Bureau de l’efficacité et de l’innovation énergétiques du ministère des Ressources naturelles et de la Faune. Fees apply for home energy evaluations under the Rénoclimat® program. For a standard-sized single-family dwelling, taking into account the financial assistance granted by the Bureau, the evaluation costs $149.95, plus taxes, subject to modification). More details.
