Winter Peak

Tempête en hiver avec vent

Peak consumption: A very high spike!

Electricity demand varies throughout the day and year.

In the depths of winter, when the mercury hovers around -25°C for several days running, there is greater pressure on the Hydro-Québec grid, especially during peak hours of use:

  • Between 7:00 and 9:00 a.m. and
  • Between 4:00 and 8:00 p.m.

You can make a difference!

By cultivating a few good habits, you can really help reduce demand:

  • Delay the use of appliances until after peak hours.
  • Lower the temperature and put on a warmer sweater.
  • Take your shower or bath outside peak hours.
  • Turn off the lights and electronics in unoccupied rooms.
