In the pool ...

Make sure that
  • plugged-in electrical devices are well away from the pool;
  • the leaf-skimmer for cleaning the pool is made out of fibreglass.
Mowing the lawn ...

Wear appropriate footwear; closed shoes help protect your feet and toes from the mower blades and from electric shocks.

It’s not a good idea to fly kites near power lines. Don’t touch a balloon caught in a tree near power lines.

There’s nothing like a summer bike ride!

If you’re riding near a high-voltage power line and you get a tingling feeling when you touch your bike’s handlebar or frame, don’t worry! It’s harmless.

The next time you approach a high-voltage line, remember to touch the bare metal of your bike for several seconds before you pass under the power line and keep touching it until you get to the other side. This will keep you and your bike in equilibrium, electrically speaking.

Have a happy and safe summer!

Remember: when you’re around power lines, always stay at least three metres away.
