Quebecers have chosen energy efficiency and are making a significant contribution to resource conservation and sustainable development. And they are already reaping the benefits because the reduction in their electricity consumption means they are saving money.
Hydro-Québec has demonstrated its own commitment to the environment by implementing its Energy Efficiency Plan (EEP), which targets savings of 4.7 terawatthours by 2010. But it’s only with the help of all our customers that this objective can be achieved.
Together, by the end of 2006, we had already achieved about 30% of the EEP’s overall objective. In concrete terms, that’s equal to the annual electricity usage of about 80,000 households, which says a lot about the real impact of every little thing we do to save energy.
By watching energy usage, changing habits, and taking steps such as using energy-efficient appliances, we can save enough energy to significantly reduce demand.
Together, one day at a time, we can rise to the collective challenge of being energy wise.
Everything we do can be an opportunity to save energy...
