Hydro-Québec has chosen to make use of renewable energy sources such as water and wind to generate electricity. It has also developed an Energy Efficiency Plan (EEP) to promote rational use of these resources.
At the same time, the company is moving forward in other areas.
Research, develop, innovate
As part of its ongoing efforts to make more effective use of resources and preserve the environment, Hydro-Québec is also working on technological innovation. Currently we're trying to find the best ways to integrate wind power into the transmission system. We're also developing other renewable energy sources such as solar and geothermal.
As a dependable and responsible company, Hydro-Québec is working to improve the performance of its existing generation facilities and its transmission and distribution systems, as well.
Another one of our research areas is electric land transportation. For example, the Hydro-Québec subsidiary TM4 has developed electric drivetrains that allow vehicles to operate without polluting the air. All these efforts help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
