Servitudes

Planning to buy a newly-built home? Don't forget to check with the developer or real-estate agent to find out whether a servitude (right of access) should be included in the deed of sale.

At Hydro-Québec, serving our customers includes installing and maintaining equipment over the whole network. And when it comes to private property, Hydro-Québec may need a servitude (right of access) in order to do the work.

Note that if a servitude is required, it must be granted in the deed of sale before we can connect your new home to our distribution system.

Avoid unpleasant surprises! If in doubt, don't hesitate to ask your notary for advice.

Safety and do-it-yourself projects

For your safety, before you hammer a nail in the wall, dig a hole or do any work on your home yourself, check to make sure there are no electrical wires in the wall, in the ground or anywhere near where you're planning to work. Your safety is important to us.

Always be careful!
