Just how efficient are they? A single 7-W incandescent light bulb on a traditional string of lights consumes as much electricity as two 24-foot strings of LED lights. Imagine how much you'll save by replacing a traditional string of lights by a string of LED lights!

Save even more by putting your holiday lights on a timer. You can choose either a mechanical or an electronic timer.
Are you heading outdoors with an extension cord?
Before plugging it in, make sure it's an outdoor extension cord and check to make sure it's in good condition. Remember to never remove the third pin. It's there for your safety.
Plug it into a power bar!
Protect your electronic equipment! Plug your TVs, computers and peripheral devices into a power bar with a circuit breaker. Your equipment will then be protected from voltage fluctuations. But when there's a power failure, be sure to unplug all your electronics nevertheless. And think about it – wouldn't a power bar make a great gift?
When you buy electrical equipment or accessories such as light bulbs, power bars, timers or extension cords, check the package to make sure that they are CSA, C-UL or ULC approved.
