For less expensive, more efficient lighting …

Check out the advantages of an ENERGY STAR® qualified fixture and the compact fluorescent bulb (CFL) generally included with it:

  • Save up to 75% of energy used for lighting, compared with a conventional fixture and bulb;
  • Enjoy steadier, more efficient and more even light;
  • Count on long-lasting bulbs—10,000 hours of light (3 hours a day for 9 years);
  • Be protected by a two-year warranty instead of the usual one year;

And you can choose from a wide range of models!

Practical tips
Get the most out of your lighting

  • Let in natural light through windows and skylights.
  • Turn lights off when you’re not using them.
  • Clean bulbs and fixtures regularly.
  • Using too much light is wasteful. Choose the right power for your need.
  • Use individual switches rather than a master switch to control several lights.
  • White reflects about 80% of light, and black barely 10%. Keep those facts in mind when you decorate.
  • Replace bulbs in hard-to-reach areas like cornices and stairwells with CFLs. You won’t have to change them often, since they last a very long time.
