When climbing a ladder, make safety a top priority!
Most ladder accidents occur in backyards. If you use a ladder, be sure to be extra careful,
especially if there are power lines nearby.
- Choose a fiberglass ladder rather than one made of aluminum,
which is highly conductive.
- Before setting up the ladder, look for nearby power lines.
Always stay at least three metres from the lines.
- Wear shoes with sturdy soles that aren’t caked with earth or mud.
- Check each rung before climbing
the ladder and make sure that the rails are stable on the ground or against a vertical surface.
- Ask for help! It’s not easy to handle a ladder alone.
And always be careful!
