For the environment
Before undertaking any development project, Hydro-Québec studies the impacts on the environment and the community, and takes the necessary measures to reduce those impacts.

Consider, for example, the new Rocher-de-Grand-Mère hydropower station on the Saint-Maurice River, built in a small area in an urban environment. Hydro-Québec added boat launches on the river, bicycle paths with rest stops, and scenic lookouts to encourage recreational tourism ... all in a spririt of respect for the environment.
