When you're looking for new household appliances, the EnerGuide label and ENERGY STAR® symbol are your best guides to energy efficiency, performance and savings.

Household appliances

The EnerGuide label displays:

  • the annual energy consumption
  • a rating so you can compare against other models
  • the ENERGY STAR symbol, for the most efficient models only

To understand the label better and select an efficient appliance, see where the information is found.

  • Annual energy consumption in kilowatthours (kWh); the lower the number, the more efficient the appliance.
  • Annual energy consumption
    of the most efficient model of
    the same type of appliance.
  • Arrow indicating energy consumption compared with other models of the same type.
  • Type and capacity.
  • Annual energy consumption
    of the least efficient model of
    the same type of appliance.
  • Model number.
  • Symbol that appears on the EnerGuide label of the most efficient large appliances;
    shows that the manufacturer has met specific standards of energy performance.
