Equalized Payments Plan

Useful Information

Your monthly installment amount
Hydro-Québec establishes your monthly installment based on:

• the electricity consumption at your current service address over the previous 12 months, and
• multiyear temperature records for your area.

Tracking your consumption
Your EPP balance and a history of your previous consumption, in kilowatthours and in dollars appears on each bill.

Annual review
Hydro-Québec conducts an annual review in August or September, to assess whether your payments and actual consumption over the course of the last year result in an outstanding balance or credit. At the time of the review, a bill will be issued to bring your balance to zero.

• If you consumed more than estimated, this amount will be greater than your usual installment. It will be carried over onto your bill and will be payable on the due date. You can also call us and arrange to have the amount that exceeds your installment spread over your next six bills.
• If you consumed less than anticipated, the amount due will be lower than your usual installment. A negative amount represents a credit and will be applied to your next bill.

Signing up for the EPP
Shortly after you sign up for the program, you will receive a letter in the mail confirming that the EPP is in effect. In the meantime, please continue to pay the balance shown on the bills you receive.

Ending the Equalized Payments Plan (EPP)
If you no longer wish to be on the EPP, simply notify us by phone. You will receive a letter confirming the EPP end date.
