It's easy! Just make the right choices in everyday matters: turn down thermostats at night, and use less energy when showering, doing laundry and preparing meals.

Here are a few tips to help you reduce your energy consumption. By taking up a few good habits, you can save significantly.

Heating

  • Turn down the temperature by a few degrees at night.
  • Keep furniture away from heating sources (baseboard heaters, radiators).
  • Open blinds and curtains during the day and draw them closed in the evening.

Appliances

  • Set the refrigerator temperature to between 2°C and 4°C and maintain this temperature.
  • Preheat the oven for no more than 10 minutes.

Electronics

  • Turn off electronics when you aren't using them (e.g. TV, stereo, etc.).

Lighting

  • Turn off the lights when you leave a room: you'll save energy and your lightbulbs will last longer.
