The Refrigerator Replacement for Low-Income Households program could help you save electricity.

GET A NEW FRIDGE!

If you are a member of a low-income household, your could get a new fridge for $75, $95 or $120, based on the fridge size selected.

Refrigerators are under warranty, and any problems shoud be reported to the retailer.

REGIONS COVERED BY THE PROGRAM

The program will be rolled out in phases until, by the end of 2015, all regions of Québec have been covered.

For 2011, the program is available in the five regions listed below until March 31, 2012:

You can find your maximum after-tax income on your most recent federal notice of assessment (click here for an example - in French only) or your most recent Ministère de l'Emploi et de la Solidarité sociale claim slip.

CRITERIA FOR OLD FRIDGE

  • Made before 1996
  • Plugged in and running
  • Capacity of 10–25 cu. ft
  • Removable without difficulty or causing damage

Some conditions may apply.

WHEN YOU SIGN UP

Have the following on hand:

  • Most recent electricity bill.
  • Proof of household income, on your most recent federal notice of assessment (click here for an example - in French only) or your most recent Ministère de l'Emploi et de la Solidarité sociale claim slip.
  • Your contribution amount, depending on the fridge size selected (cash or postal money order only).
  • Size of your current fridge (height, width, depth).

Make sure you know the measurements of the space where your new fridge will go (height, width, depth).

Your regional organization will sort out the sales contract with you and will give you all necessary information about the delivery of your new fridge.

OTHER CONDITIONS

  • Participants are not entitled to the $30 cheque under the RECYC-FRIGO program.
  • Limit of one fridge per household, per address.
  • The Refrigerator Replacement for Low-Income Households program is a Hydro-Québec initiative run by Consortium MRE Environnement. It will be available in the regions specified on this Web site until March 31, 2012.
