Spur KP 49

This spur dike is located 49 km from the mouth of the Rupert River, upstream of The Bear Rapids. The structure is designed to maintain the level of the river as far as The Cat Rapids.

Objectives
  • Project aquatic grass beds and wet perimeter.
  • Preserve the area used by Canada goose during spring migration.
  • Maintain navigability upstream of the spur dike.
  • Protect hunting, fishing and trapping areas.
Movement of fish Natural impassable obstacle.
Approximate area of influence, going upstream 15.1 km.
Date as of which the water level will be substantially maintained Once the spring instream flow is downramped, after the diversion bays are impounded in November 2009.
