Motivating and Developing Our Human Capital

Motivating Our Employees

Hydro-Québec's employees are our most valuable asset. Their know-how, skills and capacity to innovate are all resources that create value and ensure the company's long-term viability.

Since 1995, Hydro-Québec has measured employee satisfaction and motivation in terms of 32 expectations, including respectful treatment of employees; clear goals and mandates; efforts to foster a sense of belonging; communication between management and employees; making use of competencies and experience; accountability; and available means. We do this through an annual survey of all our employees.

Satisfaction is a measure of the general sense of well-being that employees derive from working for Hydro-Québec. Motivation is a measure of employee satisfaction with the management style.

Some Statistics

Overall employee satisfaction has risen steadily for a number of years. The 2007 results were the best since the company began its employee satisfaction survey. Image: Employee Motivation and Satisfaction (scale of 10)
