Providing a Stimulating and Respectful Work Environment

Providing Fair and Equitable Working Conditions

Hydro-Québec complies with the Pay Equity Act and maintains compensation equity for its employees. The company also considers employment equity and diversity to be very important, meaning that everyone has the same job opportunities.

Some Examples

In compliance with the Pay Equity Act, pay equity programs have now been drawn up and the pay discrepancies to be rectified have been determined. These measures, coupled with the overhaul of certain plans and introduction of new evaluation plans in 2007, will maintain pay equity in the company.
A plan to develop a culture of openness to diversity was drawn up in 2007 and will be implemented in 2008. This plan calls for various communication and empowerment activities, such as diversity management information and awareness sessions for human resources managers and advisors. Hydro-Québec will also develop an equal access to employment program. In addition, the company will design induction and retention methods tailored to the various target publics.
Over 85% of Hydro-Québec's employees are unionized. All the collective agreements are in effect until the end of 2008 or 2009.
