Is it possible to build a power grid without harming the environment? That's what kids will find out when they play Envirovolt. This game kit will get 9 to 12-year-olds interested in environmental sciences and hydroelectricity. Through five activities, they'll discover environmental issues related to building a power grid and will have to find solutions to the impacts created by construction of a hydroelectric dam and transmission and distribution lines.

Throughout, they'll be trying to build an ideal power system, one that will disturb wildlife, plants and human beings as little as possible. The team that finds the most ways to protect the environment wins.

The kit is available to day camps and overnight camps as well as to teachers of elementary Cycle 3 (grades 5 and 6).
