Work progress by region

Construction of the power line started in Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean.

Nature of the project

Hydro-Québec is presently carrying out tree clearing work according to schedule in the Lanaudière region. Work in the Laurentides region ended in spring 2016.

Clearing is done by the owner or assigned to a contractor. Whenever possible, work crews will use the roads built within Hydro-Québec’s servitude. Negotiations will be carried out with landowners to build new access roads or for the use of existing roads outside the servitude.

Environmental compliance monitoring

Throughout clearing and construction work, a Hydro-Québec environment specialist is onsite to protect the environment, and make sure the site is restored once the work is complete.

Key dates for the line’s construction

  • Section 3 (Taureau reservoir area): December 2016
  • Section 5 (area from Rawdon to Terrebonne): April 2017
  • Section 4 (area from Saint-Zénon to Rawdon): June 2017
  • Work in the Rivière des Prairies (Terrebonne): summer 2017

Safety near the worksite

Safety measures will be taken on the jobsite to ensure harmonious cohabitation with land users. Many crews will work at various locations along the planned line, even during weekends.

Hydro-Québec asks the public to exercise caution near the worksite, between the northern edge of Taureau reservoir and the southern part of Zec Collin.

An increase in vehicle traffic is expected in Saint-Michel-des-Saints at the beginning and end of the day, due to the presence of Hydro-Québec’s jobsite office as well as the numerous workers who will reside there.
