A favorable reception by local communities is an essential condition for Hydro-Québec projects. This is why Hydro-Québec included a public participation and consultation process, implemented in cooperation with host communities, as part of the project studies. As a result, the concerns and expectations expressed by the public and by key stakeholders could be taken into account and the project adapted to local realities as much as possible.
Since the start of the project, Hydro-Québec has held three information meetings with citizens and maintained close ties with representatives from the municipalities in the study area to benefit from their knowledge of the territory and gather their comments. The final line route takes into account the exchanges with the host community and has been improved thanks to comments gathered during meetings with concerned landowners and the general public held in 2014 and 2015.
