To maintain sufficient supply for customers currently served by the 69/25-kV Montmorency substation, in November 2013 Hydro-Québec began building the 315/25-kV Lefrançois substation and its supply line in L’Ange-Gardien, in the regional county municipality of La Côte-de-Beaupré.

The substation is part of Hydro-Québec’s plan to develop the transmission system in the Québec metropolitan area and contributes to the overall dismantling of the 69-kV grid supplied by Québec substation in the medium term. The aging of several facilities and the needs related to increasing demand are behind this decision.

The substation and tap line will be commissioned in early 2015.
