How to prevent accidents

Image: SAFETY WARNING!
By law, only Hydro-Québec or a professional tree trimmer authorized by Hydro-Québec is allowed to perform any work that might require a person, part of a tree or a tool to come within three metres of a medium-voltage line. In such cases, contact Hydro-Québec before pruning or cutting down any tree.

How to identify a medium-voltage line

Nothing is allowed to come within three metres of a medium-voltage line. That includes you, your tools and any part of a tree during pruning or cutting operations.

The potential hazards are very real:
Cutting a branch too close to
a medium-voltage power line.
Cutting down a tree that could fall onto a medium-voltage
line. Only an expert knows
how to control how a tree will
fall (proper felling).
Using tools (ladder, pruning shears, etc.) too close to a medium-voltage line.
