Third party authorized to obtain personal information from an account holder’s file or deal with Hydro-Québec on the account holder’s behalf to the extent defined by the proxy.
A proxy holder may be authorized to do the following:
- Receive and pay electricity bills.
- Negotiate a payment arrangement.
- Modify details of service contracts.
- Change contract power demand and rates.
- Request or cancel service contracts.

A printed form generally supplied by Hydro-Québec and signed by the account holder authorizing a third party (the proxy holder) to obtain information from the account holder’s file and deal, discuss or negotiate with Hydro-Québec on his or her behalf.
The proxy must contain the following information:
- Name of third party to whom information may be disclosed.
- Account numbers concerned.
- Type of information that may be disclosed to proxy holder.
- Validity period.
- Dealings proxy holder may have with Hydro-Québec:
- Receive and pay electricity bills.
- Negotiate a payment arrangement.
- Modify details of service contracts.
- Change contract power demand and rates.
- Request or cancel service contracts.
- Conduct any other business that account holder may specify.
