Severe thunderstorms swept across Québec on Saturday night causing power outages, mainly in the Laurentides, Outaouais and Lanaudière regions. At the height of the event, approximately 550,000 customers were without power.

Service restoration continues with over 700 crews (1,400 workers) currently mobilized in the effort. We know this is a difficult situation and we want to assure you that we are doing everything possible to restore power as quickly as possible.

WARNING

If you see power lines on the ground, do not approach them. Call 9-1-1 immediately to have the area secured.

Under normal circumstances, a service restoration time is provided in our power outages tracker online. However, during a major outage like this, it is not possible for us to provide a time frame for each location, due to the high number of locations where our crews need to restore power and the rapidly evolving nature of the situation. At any given time, a field crew may be called upon to move to another location where an immediate danger has been reported, or to restore service to a priority location, such as a hospital or other essential public service.

Some of the outages that remain are likely to take longer to resolve. This may be because they are in hard-to-reach areas, have caused extensive damage to the power system, or require a large amount of debris to be cleared. These outages require a high number of targeted interventions by our crews.

We thank you for your patience.
