Encourage the residents in your municipality to reduce their use of drinking water with kits of WaterSense® labeled products

Your municipality can get
involved in two ways.

Water- and energy-saving products help reduce the consumption of your municipality's drinking water and the variable costs related to production. They can help your municipality meet the objectives set out in the Québec Water Efficiency Strategy.

By encouraging residents in your municipality to install WaterSense® labeled showerheads and faucet aerators, you will be helping them use less water and save on their electricity bill without sacrificing comfort.

Another option for mobilizing your residents

Offer them an online rebate

Based on your budget (minimum $500), your municipality can offer residents a rebate when purchasing a kit. When your residents purchase a kit online or by telephone, the rebate is automatically applied.

To activate this option, contact Solutions Ecofitt, Hydro-Québec's service provider, at 514 677-0099 or toll-free at 1 855 882-0099.

How to convince your residents

Savings that pay off

By optimizing their consumption of hot water with WaterSense® labeled showerheads and faucet aerators, the residents in your municipality will save on their electricity bill.

Your residents will save all year round

Number of occupants in the household

4

Number of occupants in the household

Potential savings

$114 less on the annual
electricity bill

43 804 fewer litres of water consumed each year

The amount of water and energy used and saved varies depending on the type of products installed and household requirements. Calculations are based on several factors, including: cost of electricity at 8.65¢/kWh (taxes included); baseline flow rate of 9.5 L/min for showerheads and 8.3 L/min for aerators; shower duration of 8 min per person per day, water temperature at the intake of the water heater: 12°C, and tap water temperature: 40°C.

Uncompromised comfort

The showerheads and faucet aerators restrict the flow rate to a maximum 5.7 L/min, which is up to 40% less than that of conventional products. The water pressure remains the same, so residents won’t even notice a difference.

10-year warranty

The showerheads and faucet aerators in our kits are covered by a 10-year warranty. The showerheads are made of ABS thermoplastic, a corrosion- and impact-resistant material.

Quick and easy installation

Showerheads and faucet aerators can be installed quickly and easily using the instructions provided in the kit. We even have a video tutorial to help you out.

Your municipality will benefit from Hydro-Québec's communication plan to promote its products. We also have the following non-exhaustive list of suggestions:

  • Use the municipality's Web site to inform residents of the promotion as well as the advantages of water- and energy-saving products.
  • Put up posters in high-traffic public areas to increase visibility (community centres, libraries, arenas, sports centres, city hall, etc.).
  • Distribute the promotional flyer for the WaterSense® Labeled Water- and Energy-Saving Products Program.
  • Talk about the promotion during local activities (sports activities, neighborhood festivals, events celebrating the environment, etc.).
  • Advertise in local newspapers.
  • Place an ad on the radio, if possible.
  • Announce the promotion in the residents' newsletter.
  • Project the contents of a promotional poster on a large screen (dynamic display screens, electronic bulletin boards) or at the movie theater before a film is shown, just like the municipality of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield did.
