Gentilly-2 Nuclear Generating Station
Worker health is a constant concern for Hydro-Québec. Every worker is subject to constant and rigorous medical follow-up and has access to personalized healthcare. In addition, every worker has a dosimeter that can measure exposure to ionizing radiation. Furthermore, annual health and safety campaigns keep workers informed of best practices.
CNSC limits for worker exposure are 50 mSv/year and 100 mSv/5 years.
Hydro-Québec has set more restrictive administrative limits than those of the CNSC. At Gentilly-2, the administrative limit is 20 mSv/year. On average, workers are exposed to 1 mSv.
