KP 33 Weir

This weir dike is located 33 km from the mouth of the Rupert River, upstream of Plum Pudding Rapids. The structure is designed to maintain the level of the river as far as The Bear Rapids, at the foot of Kapeshi Eputupeyach Bay.

Objectives
  • Project aquatic grass beds and wet perimeter.
  • Maintain navigability.
  • Enhance Kapeshi Eputupeyach Bay.
  • Protect hunting, fishing and trapping areas.
Movement of fish Ensure that fish can circulate freely.
Approximate area of influence, going upstream 15 km.
Date as of which the water level will be substantially maintained Once the spring instream flow is downramped, after the diversion bays are impounded in November 2009.
