To meet increasing electricity demand and ensure the long-term operability of the power system, Hydro-Québec is building a 315/25-kV transformer substation, mostly on the site of the existing Fleury substation.
Converting the substation to 315 kV also required a new 315-kV line between Charland and Fleury substations. This line has been built in the right-of-way of a dismantled 120-kV line.
Work began in fall 2014 and is expected to continue through to 2017. Once commissioned, the new substation and line will be able to meet the short- and long-term electricity needs of the area they serve.
