To sustain development in the Lanaudière region, Hydro-Québec commissioned the Mauricie–Lanaudière line in the Joliette area in November 2015.
This line is part of Hydro-Québec’s plan to upgrade the transmission system in the northeastern part of the Montréal metropolitan region. Some 5 km long, it connects Lanaudière substation in Joliette to a line that runs to Mauricie substation, located in Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel. Among the mitigation measures implemented, the company preserved a vegetation screen between Antonio-Barrette Highway (Highway 31) and a residential neighborhood.
Hydro-Québec would like to thank residents and regional organizations for their participation in the public participation process. Opinions, suggestions and recommendations were taken into account to determine the line variant with the smallest social, environmental, technological and economic impact.
