Description
Existing scenario: an efficient refrigeration process with a maintenance temperature of -15.6°C (4°F) that uses two identical 140.6 bhp rotary screw compressors running on R-717 and an evaporative condenser sized for 35°C (95°F)
Planned electricity-saving measures
- Replace liquid injection cooling of the two rotary screw compressors by thermosiphon cooling.
- Lower condensation temperature to 29.4°C (85°F).
- Replace evaporative condenser operating at a saturated condensation temperature of 35°C (95 °F) by a new condenser operating at a condensation temperature of 29.4°C (85°F) and install a variable speed drive (VSD) on the fan motor.
- Install a VSD on the 125-hp pump of a secondary circuit.
